Ollie's New Do

Last night I took Oliver to the groomer for only the second time in his little life. After the first time, Danny and I decided that we could do just as good of a job as the groomer could for a fraction of the price so we got some dog clippers and have been doing Ollie's hair ever since. We were right about doing it for a fraction of the price, but Ollie has gotten some pretty bad haircuts from the two of us the past few months. Anyway, Ollie's nails were getting long and his face was getting scruffy so I decided it was time to go back to the groomer so he could get the royal treatment that he deserves.

Here is Ollie in the car on the way to the groomer

And here is the handsome boy afterwards

Check out those perfectly manicured paws!

That bandanna stayed around his neck for about 5 minutes after we got home before he chewed it off. It has now become a toy that he drags around the house.
I hope he stays looking like this until his Aunt Ashley comes to visit this weekend but I am sure he will only look and smell good for about 2 more days before he decides to go roll around in dirt.
On a side note, we may have a Tubbs junior on our hands. Havanese are supposed to max out at 13 pounds and Ollie weighed in at an impressive 16.6 pounds at his vet appointment on Saturday!

How to Make Fortune Cookies

We had our monthly girls dinner last night over at Jen's house. The theme this time was Asian food. I decided I would bring homemade fortune cookies. This sounds hard, but is actually really easy and they taste so yummy! Everyone loved the fortune cookies (there were seven of us and we ate about 30 fortune cookies) so I figured I would put together a quick how to.

Step 1:
Kick the dogs out of the kitchen.

Step 2:
Find an assistant (you would think it would help that he is part Asian, but we still ruined the first 3 batches)

Step 3:
Assemble all your ingredients -
3 egg whites
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons water

Step 4:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets with Pam.

Step 5:
Make up silly fortunes and cut them into strips.

Step 6:
In a large glass or metal bowl, whip egg whites and sugar on high speed of an electric mixer until frothy, about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low, and stir in melted butter, vanilla, almond extract, water and flour one at a time, mixing well after each. Consistency should resemble pancake batter. Spoon the batter into 3 inch circles on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 7:
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges begin to brown slightly. Quickly remove one at a time, place a message in the center, and fold in half. Fold the ends of the half together into a horse shoe shape. If they spring open, place them in a muffin tin to cool until set.

Step 8:
Pause for a trick

Step 9:
Eat your yummy cookies!!!!

30 Day Shred Update - Day 5

So, I am on day 5 of the 30 day shred. I am still on level one and can get through most of it without stopping which is a big improvement over day 1. I thought I was going to die the first time around.

Results are as follows:

I can tell that my arm muscles are like 5 times stronger and harder than they used to be.

My legs are in a continuous state of being sore.

I think I have gained 1.5 pounds (muscle weighs more than fat right?)

My scale may be broken.

Weekend Wrap- up

Well, this weekend was a success! We drove down to College Station on Friday after work and got there in record time. The only set back we had was when Ollie decided to barf in the car. This, however, is a normal occurrence so I came prepared with paper towels and Clorox wipes so a major crisis was averted.

We got to hotel Maldonado, changed clothes and walked across the street to have dinner at the Tap (this was Danny's dinner choice). After dinner we headed out to have a little fun at Northgate which is always a good time!

Saturday morning Drill Sergeant Jon had us all up bright and early to get ready for a full day of tailgating. We got all the necessities together and were setup at our tailgate spot by 11 am with mimosas in our hands.

We played ladder ball, bocce ball, and washers and ate hamburgers, boudin and guacamole all day long.

Oliver loved tailgating and was so well behaved! He will definitely be coming back to College Station on future tailgate trips with us!

We are making this a yearly tradition for Susan's birthday and next year the tailgate will be upgraded with a TV and a name (Fire in the Hole was the number one name choice). In ten years we hope that we will have the ultimate tailgate upgrade and have an RV so be on the lookout for that!

Sunday morning we woke up, went to the park, church and finally La Bodega for some awesome fish tacos. We had the slowest waiter on earth, but the food was worth the wait!

In two weeks Danny and I will be going back down for the OSU game and I can't wait! My mission during the next two weeks is to find a new game day dress. Some of those girls in CS had the cutest A&M dresses I have ever seen. I have to get my hands on one!!!!

Hullabaloo

The weekend is almost here! Yay!

This weekend we are heading to College Station for some birthday celebrations and some tailgate action and I am soooo excited!

I am so glad I got to spend 5 years in college at Texas A&M University. College Station is your typical small college town with not much to do but go to the bar but it has some of my favorite restaurants on earth! These include La Bodega, Cafe Capri, Cafe Excel for dessert, Madden's, Square One and Mi Cocina. Danny has already vetoed going to Mi Cocina so I have to see if I can talk anyone else into going with me! I just love the vibe that College Station has, life is a little slower and people are a lot nicer. It is a breath of fresh air!
The weather here in Dallas has been rainy and gloomy all week but the weather in CS is suppossed to be 88 degrees and partly cloudy, perfect tailgate weather!

College Station + Best Buds + La Bodega + Tailgate Fun = THE PERFECT WEEKEND!!!

Oh Happy Day!

In a few hours I get to see all these peeps!!!

I am getting on a plane from Chicago and going to Houston soon and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!

The two beauties on the right are the bestie and her best boy. And that stud on the left is my numero uno.

I haven't seen my bestie in about 2 1/2 months so I am about to die of withdrawals.

I haven't seen Danny in about 4 days which isn't too long, but I miss him too!

Ok, I gotta pack it up so I can get to the airport. See you in back in Texas!!!

Fun Bobby has a Blog!

This is Fun Bobby (aka Whitey)

She is without a doubt the most random friend I have. She just started a blog

Go check her out. She will make you laugh!

A Walk in the Park

Due to the great holiday known as Labor Day, Danny and I both had four whole days off from work this weekend and we didn't have to go out of town for a wedding (which had become our normal weekend routine for the past few months)! I was so thrilled to have four days off from work and nowhere to go! The dogs were thrilled too since they got some major attention and got to take extra long walks every day and go to the park a couple of times. Here are some pictures from one of our days at the park.
Ender and Ollie ready to go!

We had to delay our walk since Ollie decided to empty himself out in the front yard the minute we started walking away from the house. Here are the boys waiting for me to return from getting rid of the evidence.

This is what Ender does at the park

This is what Ollie does

And here they are after a long walk and an exciting morning at the park.

The dogs spent the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon laying on the kitchen floor. Ollie was pooped after all the laying around he did at the park.

Game Night - Wii Edition

It is no secret that we love game nights around here. I am really competitive so I never pass a game night opportunity up. Our games of choice are normally Taboo and The Movie Game (a totally made up movie charades game from those crazy Stanleys) but Saturday night we headed over to Katie and Mike's house to have a delicious Hawaiian barbecue dinner and Wii game night.

Meet the Competitors:

Katie and Mike - our hosts for the night

The Stanleys

Jen and Laura

Danny and I

We started things off with Wii Sports Resort. We played swords, ping pong, basketball and had canoe races. Here are some demonstrations of perfect form on swords. I was going to put a video of Canoe races but it was taking too long to download. If you want to see some of that action head over to Katie's blog at http://katies-sugar-and-spice.blogspot.com/.

After we dominated all the games on Sports Resort we moved on to Mario Kart and then a little bit of Rockband to wrap the night up. We had such a great time and some people got a little worn out by the end of the night.

It was such a fun night with great friends and lots of laughs. I can't wait for the next game night!
