Oh Baby Baby - Week 22

Danny is unavaliabe for my picture taking and editing needs this week so I had to resort to my iphone. Sorry for the horrible pictures, but I figured something was better than nothing (ignore the dogs that hang out with me in the bathroom while I get ready in the mornings)!

The bump is looking large this morning!

Here I am in what I am actually wearing today (normal size work pants and a $7 shirt from Forever 21).

A Quick Trip Home

This weekend I took an impromptu trip home to see the family!

I flew in late on Friday night and left on Sunday evening but I got a lot accomplished in less than 48 hours.

The first thing I did when I got home was snuggle with this guy.

Saturday morning my dad and I headed to our favorite breakfast place in all the world, Toddle Inn. I ate a giant breakfast taco and my dad of course had the huevos rancheros. Then, we made a quick stop at my grandma's house (dad's mom) before we left to Kingsville to see my mom's parents.

In Kingsville, I got to spend some time with my grandparents, see my aunts, a couple of cousins and my cousins kids who are the cutest almost 5 and 2 year old ever! That was a nice surprise since I didn't know they would be in town! My dad took off back home after a couple of hours but I stayed behind to go to church with my grandma and drove back later in the evening in my moms car since it had been in Kingsville for a few weeks. Of course I cried when I pulled out of the driveway because I hate leaving!

When I got back home that night my dad and I went out for some taquitos! Taquitos are probably in my top 5 favorite foods and they are the best in Brownsville! I wish I would have taken a picture, but I was too busy eating.

Sunday morning my dad left early to play golf with his friends (like he has been doing every Sunday morning for the past probably 15 years) and I slept in. When I woke up I did a little cleaning around the house for my dad and then got dressed and went out shopping! My mom and I used to go out shopping on Sunday mornings a lot. My dad was gone for hours golfing so we had time to go shop and get home and hide our goodies before he saw the bags!

Brownsville does not have the best shopping but I got lucky  and found a couple of great things for myself and for Lily! By the time I made it back home my dad was back from golfing so I did a fashion show for him with all of my purchases, haha! I am sure he loooves having to look at all sorts of girly stuff!

We ate a quick late lunch, I got a raspa (aka snow cone which is also on my list of top 5 favorite foods), and we headed to my grandma's house to visit for a little bit before I had to head for the airport.

raspa

On the way to the airport, my dad and I stopped at Baskin Robbins and shared a banana split (and I ate my own ice cream cone as well, whoops).

dad

Then it was time to say goodbye and head back home. I am always sad to leave, but I know I will be heading back in about a month so I won't have to wait too long to get my next fix of family, tacos, and raspas!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 21

21 weeks

How Far Along? 21 weeks.

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a banana and now weighs about 12.2 ounces and is about 10.5 inches long. I am not sure how we went from a cantaloupe last week to a banana this week. Maybe The Bump is just using fruit for a length comparison, who knows!

Maternity Clothes?  I finally bit the bullet and bought a few things. I got some denim shorts, a pair of black pants for work and a pair of black capri pants for work. I wore the shorts on our road trip to Houston this weekend. They were still a little big but pretty comfy for a 4 hour car ride.

Weight Gain? 8 pounds.

Gender? GIRL!!!

Sleep? Still awesome.

Food Cravings? Nothing new. Still love fruit but I feel like my sweets cravings have started to taper off (which is good for my waist line)

What I Miss? Not really missing anything much this week. I am feeling totally normal and have tons of energy right now so life is good! I even had a blast at the wedding we went to this weekend even though I couldn’t drink and I stayed out and partied until 2 am with no problem!

Symptoms?  Nope

Belly Button? The belly button is living on the edge right now which is kind of surprising to me! I don’t think I really look that pregnant, I have not gained a ton of weight yet and I had a really deep belly button to begin with, but it is already on the verge of popping out. I can actually make it pop out if push my stomach out but it scares me that it will get stuck like that so I have only done it once to show Danny that I can do a trick.

Best Moment of the Week? Shopping for some cute clothes for this little princess. Its is crazy to think we will have a little person in a few short months who will fit into these tiny outfits!

What's in a Name?

Baby girl officially has a name!

Liliana Adele (aka Lily)

For the past couple of years I had thought that I would name my daughter Lyla (after one of the main characters on the show Friday Night Lights). I mentioned it to Danny way back when and he randomly said he liked the name Lily better so if we had a daughter named Lyla he would just call her Lily. Ummm, no.

Flash forward to October 2011. My dad and I are sitting in the funeral home with the director and she is asking us what kind of flowers we want in the big spray that will be sitting on my mom' s coffin and I had no idea what to say. She asked me what her favorite flower was so I told her gardenias and magnolias which are totally random and obviously not the type of cut flowers that a florist has. She then suggested lilies but I could not for the life of me picture what a lily looked like. She took me back to see an arrangement from a funeral the prior day and I told her lilies would be fine.

I left the funeral home panicked and worrying about those stupid flowers. I knew I would hate myself if the giant flower arrangement on the top of my mom's coffin was ugly. Everyone who came to the funeral home would see that thing and more than anything I just wanted it to look beautiful for her.

When we got to the funeral home the next morning and walked into the room where they had everything set up the first thing I noticed was the flowers. As Danny and I walked up the aisle toward the coffin I immediately said, "Those flowers look amazing. Lilies are my new favorite flower."

I got back to Dallas a couple of weeks after the funeral and casually mentioned to Danny that if we had a daughter one day I wanted to call her Lily because of the flowers at my moms funeral. He was totally on board since he had liked the name Lily from the beginning!

Adele (like the singer) came about because I was trying to come up with a name that was similar to my mom's name, Delma. She didn't really like her name in the first place so I figured she would be cool with me not naming my child after her. I was looking at a list of baby names online one day and obviously never got past the A's. I saw Adele and thought it sounded similar to Delma, it went well with Liliana, and when I mentioned it to Danny he said ok so that was that!

We can't wait to meet our little Liliana Adele!

Copy Cat Anthro Bracelet

I am back with another copy cat jewelry project!

This time I decided to try making my own version of this bracelet from Anthropologie.

It looked like something I could easily do with my bake able molding clay and I was right! I didn't want to spend any money on this project so I just used the clay colors I had at home and this is what I came up with.

I can't take all the credit for this project. All I did was roll my clay out. Danny took over from there and actually cut the shapes out for me. I just don't have the precision for stuff like that! He made little paper templates so they would be symmetrical where as I would have probably just eyeballed it and hoped for the best.

Making jewelry with clay is so easy and cheap. The little blocks of clay cost maybe $2 and once you get the shapes you want you just throw it all in the oven and bake it according to the directions on the package. Easy peasy!

Oh Baby Baby - 20 Weeks

20 weeks

How Far Along? 20 weeks. I can’t believe we are halfway there!!! I just hope the next 20 weeks go as smoothly as these first 20 weeks have.

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a cantaloupe and now weighs about 10.2 ounces and is about 6.5 inches long. A cantaloupe seems huge to me!

Maternity Clothes?  Not yet.

Weight Gain? 8 pounds.

Gender? GIRL!!!

Sleep? Still awesome.

Food Cravings? Fruit, ice cream and chocolate candy.

What I Miss? I am back to missing margaritas. We went to a birthday dinner for a friend at Gloria’s this weekend and my mouth started watering when the waiter brought over some mango margaritas.

Symptoms?  Upper back pain due to my larger than normal chest, lower back/tailbone pain, and my left ankle hurts. I am not sure why my ankle hurts but it never hurt before I was pregnant so I am calling it a symptom. Maybe it is from walking in heels at work with 8 extra pounds of weight on me.

Belly Button? In

Best Moment of the Week?
Thinking maybe I felt the baby move for the first time! I have an anterior placenta which means my placenta is attached to the front of my uterus (normally it attaches to the back wall) so it is providing some extra padding between the the baby and I making it hard for me to feel her move. My doctor said I many not be able to feel much of anything until 22 or 23 weeks but I think I may have felt a little something this weekend!

Copy Cat Anthro Necklace

I saw this necklace from Anthropologie on Pinterest the other day and immediately thought "I am going to make that when I get home tonight".

As you know, I get into hobbies for a few months at a time. Last year I got into jewelry making for a couple of months so I had a stock pile of supplies at home. My mom would REALLY get into hobbies so I came home after Christmas with  tons and tons of beads and other random jewelry making supplies. One look at my inspiration picture and I knew I had everything I needed at home to make a really similar necklace .

After dinner Monday night I headed to the craft room to get started on my necklace and this I what I ended up with.

IMG_5604

Pretty close match right?!?!

I loved the raspberry colored beads in the Anthro necklace but the beads I had in that color hung vertically instead of horizontally so I couldn't use them. I was also making the necklace with the intention of wearing it to a wedding  this weekend and the dress I am planning on wearing is navy and cream so I added in some blue beads to tie it into my dress.

I was pretty pleased with my final product! I was even more pleased that it cost me nothing to make since I already had everything I needed at home and it got me itching to start making jewelry again!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 19

19 weeks

 How Far Along? 19 weeks

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a mango and now weighs about 8.5 ounces and is about 6 inches long.

Maternity Clothes?  Nope. Still just using the Bella Band and wearing some of my looser fitting shirts.

Weight Gain? Getting close to 10 pounds. I go to the doctor this week so I will have a more accurate number soon.

Gender? GIRL!!!

Sleep? Great! It is hard for me to get out of bed in the morning because I just want to stay snuggled up under the covers!

Food Cravings? Still craving ice cream and fruit. I got some sugar free fruit popsicles at the store this weekend that are only 30 calories each so I am hoping that will get me through my ice cream cravings.

What I Miss? Being able to go more than an hour without having to potty.

Symptoms?  No symptoms this week other than a growing belly.

Belly Button? In but it is staring to get really shallow so I think it may eventually pop out.

Best Moment of the Week? Picking up a few adorable outfits for this little lady!
