Brownsville Baby Shower

Last weekend I flew down to Brownsville for a visit with family and so I would be home for my mom's birthday. Since I was coming home, my mom's friends threw Lily and I a little baby shower!

All the ladies at the shower had taught with my mom for years at Vela Middle School. That is where I went to middle school as well, so they have all known me for about 17 years and most of them were my teachers at some point during my junior high years. Isn't that crazy!??! One of them also happens to be the mom of my bestie, Alexis. Alexis and I actually became friends because our moms introduced us to each other on the first day of 6th grade (and she has been stuck with me ever since)!



For as long as I can remember these ladies have been getting together for what they call "Birthday Club". Whenever it is someones birthday, they all get together at a local restaurant to celebrate so that is what we did for the shower!





Let me just say, it was an explosion of PINK and Lily got some of the most adorable things I have ever seen! All things pink, ruffles, tutu, and girly are right up my alley so I just loved it!



I wasn't able to fit all of Lily's goodies in my suitcase so my dad will have to bring the rest to me when he comes for a visit but here is what I was able to bring home with me.




One of the gifts Lily got was so special that I get teary eyed just thinking about it. Every year for Christmas my mom would get me a doll. When I was younger they were mostly fancy barbies but as I got older she started to get me Madame Alexander dolls. I don't really collect things because I don't like clutter, but I am so glad my mom started doing this for me. It was a special thing just between the two of us that means so much more to me now than I ever knew it would. Anyway, the last present I opened was from my mom's friend Anne and it was Lily's first Madame Alexander doll! It is a huggable baby doll that I just know she will love for years to come. I know if my mom were here that is probably the first thing she would have gotten for Lily!



It was so nice to spend a few hours with my mom's friends. They are just such a fun, crazy and loving bunch and I am so thankful that we have them in our lives!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 27

How Far Along? 27 weeks…91 days to go! This is also the last week of my second trimester!
 
Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a cauliflower and now weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and is about 13.6 to 14.8 inches long.
 
Maternity Clothes?  Nothing new. Just wearing my pre preggo dresses and the couple of pairs of maternity pants I have for work.
 
Weight Gain? 14lbs
 
Gender? Girl! Liliana Adele.
 
Sleep? Still great!

Food Cravings? Nope, but I did have a banana pudding shake from Chick fil a last night and it was so amazing that I think may start craving that.
 
What I Miss? Nothing much
 
Symptoms?  This is totally TMI, but for the past couple of months I have not be going to the bathroom as much as usual for #2, if you know what I mean.

Belly Button? Totally out

Best Moment of the Week? Getting to go home for the weekend and celebrate Lily with my mom's wonderful friends!

Happy Birthday Momma!

Today is my moms 62nd birthday. I would give anything to be able to celebrate and spend the day with her today but I am guessing birthdays in Heaven are pretty amazing, so I am sure she is having a great day.

I didn't think I would be able to focus at work today anyway, so I took the day off and headed down to Brownsville to spend my long weekend with family.

While I was home my moms super amazing friends threw Lily and I our first shower (pics to come), I got to cuddle to my Charlie dog, and I got to spend time time in Kingsville with my mom's family. The only downside of the weekend is that my dad was out of town for work so I didn't get to see him.

Oh Baby Baby - Week 26

 

How Far Along? 26 weeks…98 days to go! I can’t believe we are down to double digits. This pregnancy is flying!

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a head of lettuce and now weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and is about 13.6 to 14.8 inches long. 

Maternity Clothes?  Mostly wearing dresses in my normal size and the couple of pairs of maternity pants I have for work. 

Weight Gain? Still holding steady at 11 lbs.

Gender? Girl! Liliana Adele. 

Sleep? Still great! I have even started getting up fewer times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. 

Food Cravings? I really like cereal these days. Most nights I would rather eat that than a real dinner. I still don’t have much of an appetite. 

What I Miss? Sleeping on my stomach and bending over without my belly getting in the way. I told Danny he is going to have to learn how to polish my toe nails pretty soon! 

Symptoms?  I think I have started to have some Braxton Hicks contractions. 

Belly Button? Totally out

Best Moment of the Week? Making more nursery progress, feeling this little girl dance around in my belly more and more, and continuing to have a healthy and easy pregnancy which is such a blessing!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 25

How Far Along? 25 weeks…105 days to go!

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of an eggplant and now weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and is about 13.6 to 14.8 inches long. Wow! I can’t believe we are starting to use pounds instead of ounces for the weight of the baby!!!

Maternity Clothes?  Nothing new. Just using the couple of pairs of pants I have and wearing dresses. Most of my old dresses still fit me and they are more comfy than pants anyway!

Weight Gain? 11 lbs

Gender? Girl! Liliana Adele. 

Sleep? Still great! 

Food Cravings? Nope

What I Miss? Not much. I am still able to everything I did before I was preggo (besides drink) so I don’t really feel like I am missing out on anything! 

Symptoms?  This is probably TMI but a slight loss of bladder control has started in the last week. Sneezing while sitting down is no problem but if I happen to be standing up there is a chance I may pee my pants a little bit.

Belly Button? Outtie

Best Moment of the Week? Celebrating my 28th birthday this weekend with amazing friends and knowing that next year I will have a little side kick to join in on the fun!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 24

How Far Along? 24 weeks. Only 112 days to go!

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a grapefruit and now weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces and is about 10.5 to 11.8 inches long.

Maternity Clothes? Added some cute new skinny jeans to the maternity wardrobe!

Weight Gain? 11 pounds

Gender? Girl! Liliana Adele.

Food Cravings? I have not had any cravings for the past couple of weeks. Still have not been feeling very hungry.  

Symptoms?  Nothing new this week. I feel totally normal except for the basketball under my shirt! 

Belly Button? Outtie

Best Moment of the Week?  Feeling Lily kick and move around more and more! We also got the crown molding put up in her room and all the furniture assembled and in place. I can't wait to start accessorizing!

Oh Baby Baby - Week 23

 

We had a visit from the Easter Bunny this week!

How Far Along? 23 weeks.

Size of Baby?  Baby is the size of a pomegranate and now weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces and is about 10.5 to 11.8 inches long.

Maternity Clothes?  Still just using the few maternity things I have purchased and the bella band. I found some great non maternity stuff on clearance at Old Navy this weekend and it was an additional 30% off the clearance price so everything I got was $7 or less. I ended up with three wrap dresses and 2 tops that I think will work for a while even though they are a size small. Maternity clothes prices are way higher than normal prices so as long as I fit into regular sizes I am going to stick with those!

Weight Gain? My scale at home says 10 pounds but I go to the doctor tomorrow so I will have a more accurate number next week!

Gender? Girl! Liliana Adele. 

Sleep? Great 

Food Cravings? I think this little nugget is squishing my stomach because I have not felt very hungry this week or really craved anything. 

What I Miss? Nothing really 

Symptoms?  A growing belly and some middle of the night leg cramps.

Belly Button? I think I am going to have to call it an outtie!

Best Moment of the Week? There were a few really great things that happened this week! On Sunday morning Danny got to feel Lily move for the first time! Then, later that day, Danny and his mom got the nursery painted. Then, last night while I was laying in bed, I decided to lay my phone on my belly and play Lily some of the classical versions of lullabies that I had downloaded for her (this kid is totally going to be a baby genius). She immediately started kicking me pretty hard and really consistently. It was crazy! She either loved the music or was totally pissed that I woke her up! I had never felt her kick that hard or for such an extended period of time before! Maybe she was practicing her ballet moves in there!
