Today is a big day for us at Casa de Tsukahara (I know we aren't married yet, but whatever). As I type this, the granite counter tops are being installed in the kitchen! I cannot wait to go home to see the little beauties!
I am losing count of how many weeks we have been in the house ( I think this is the start of the sixth week), and I was seriously about to have a meltdown this weekend because the kitchen was not ready. It still won't be ready just because the counter tops are in, but this is major progress people! Now all the we have to do to get the kitchen completed is do the back splash (this could be a disaster or the ultimate money saver since we are doing it ourselves), paint, finish the cabinet doors, and get the plumber to come out so we can get gas in the kitchen and use the stove. Hopefully we can have it all done in the next two weeks. I am getting pretty tired of eating cereal for dinner every night!
In other house related news (sorry, I really don't have anything else exciting going on in my life right now), this weekend I painted Danny's office and the kitchen table and chairs. I am not sure how we ended in up with gray paint (we thought we were getting a brownish color) but I am glad we did because the room looks pretty nice. The paint color is called Empire and it is from Lowe's. Speaking of paint from Lowe's, I think I have decided that I like the Behr paint from Home Depot better than the Valspar paint at Lowe's. I just don't think that the Valspar paint covers as well. Anyway, I got off track. I will post the finished product once we get his desk set up and our diplomas on the wall.
Here is our progress so far -
Guestroom - DONE
Guest bathroom - DONE
Craft room - DONE
Master bedroom - need headboard to complete
Danny's office - need to get furniture in and setup
Living room - needs accessories
Kitchen - almost done
Formal living and dining room - not started
Man room - not started
Backyard - not started
Master bathroom - not started
As you can see we are making pretty good progress for only being in the house for 6 weeks but we still have a lot more to go!
Hopefully I will have a finished kitchen to show you soon!

Room Reveal - Guest Bedroom and Bathroom
Time to see the guest bedroom and bathroom!
This bedroom started off an awful pinkish purple color so we painted it a neutral color called White Sand by Benjamin Moore. Being the cheap-o that I am, I took the Benjamin Moore paint swatch to Lowe's and they color matched it for me using Valspar paint which is only about $23 a gallon.

The house has three guest bedrooms but this is the only one that we are using as an actual bedroom. One of the other guest rooms is my craft room and the other one is going to be Danny's office at some point.

As you can see, Jaws the turtle still lives in the guestroom. Once we get a chance to work on the backyard Jaws will have a new pond to call home!
The guest bathroom was actually a pretty nice subdued shade of green and after painting the craft room, the master bedroom and the guest room, I didn't have it in me to paint anything else so I decided the green would work! The tile in this bathroom is a little retro, but it was in good shape so we decided to leave it for now. All we had to do to spruce this room up was change out the mirror to something that was framed, change the light fixture and put in some accessories.

Room Reveal - Craft Room
So, it has been a busy few weeks with work and moving into the new house but we are making progress and it is starting to feel like a home!

The first room reveal is going to be my craft room. I was so excited that we found a home that had a space that I could use for this purpose.
Here is the only before picture I have of the room. The old owners used it as an office but you can't really see that from my horrible picture.
I really like neutral colors for most rooms in the house, but for my craft room I wanted some color! I decided to go with a robin's egg blue color. Here is a picture after the first coat of paint.
I have to admit that I was worried that it looked like toothpaste and Danny wasn't sure about my color choice either, but I think it all came together when we put the furniture in.
Here are the after pictures. The room could still use some artwork or shelving above the long desk, but I haven't decided exactly what I want to do yet.
I have a little table that I use to cut my fabric for sewing projects and then I have the long desk on the wall that has room for my laptop and my sewing machine.
I already put the craft room to good use when I used it to make the curtains that are hanging in the room! I can't wait to use it for more fun projects!
Up next is the guest bedroom and bathroom reveal!

Homeowners
Danny and I are officially homeowners! We signed all the paperwork two weeks ago but the old owners were leasing it back from us until yesterday. So last night, after a really busy day, we loaded up some things in the car and headed over to the new house to see it for the first time since we bought it.

We took a bottle of champagne over and drank it as we walked around excitedly looking at everything and talking about all kinds of ideas!
We are so excited to get started on all of our projects and feel so blessed to have been able to buy such a wonderful house to start our lives together in!
I will be sure to post before and after pictures or all of our projects so you can follow along!
